Andy Lang

I am a recent graduate from the University of Technology Sydney who studied a major in Games Development, as well as sub-major in Networking.

Throughout my life, I have always had a strong passion for games and wanted to learn the fundamentals of the development process in order to discover what made them so fun to play. Before I entered university, I participated in an internship program from No Moss Studios in late 2017 to get a first-hand experience in what it is like to partake in the current games industry. I learned a lot from it, as I involved myself within the agile development process and working on projects within a team.

Ever since I started my 3-year course at UTS in 2018, I have acquired a lot of knowledge within many aspects of games development, from programming, game design, and animation. I also developed a greater understanding in the agile development process, and had applied them to the games I've developed witrh other students on game engines such as Unity and Unreal. I was a member of the UTS Playmakers society, which focused on bringing together students who were interested in game and UX design. I participated in one of their own hosted game jams with some friends and managed to develop an augmented reality maze game from it.

Even after graduation, I still maintain a strong passion for game development and am constantly honing my skills on fun side projects that I am currently working on from time to time. Unity is my most preferred game engine to work on, due to its versatile features and tools. I have a thorough understanding of C#, but I have also studied other languages such as C++, Python, and Java. I aim to achieve to make a game that encapsulates a lot of fun mechanics that everyone can enjoy playing, whether it is by themselves or with others.

For my hobbies, I am always interested in playing first-person shooter games, as well as indie games with great story elements. Rainbow Six Siege and Undertale are my current favourites respectively. I have also a great interest in making and listening to music, as well as editing a podcast I have established with my school friends. In doing so, I have gained some experience with Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere Pro.
